Public Hospital District
Public Hospital District No. 2, Snohomish County, also known as the Verdant Health Commission and has a long history of supporting the health of the residents in South Snohomish County.
The hospital district formed in 1962, opened Stevens Hospital in 1964, and operated the hospital until September 1, 2010, when the facility, land, and major medical equipment was leased to Swedish Health Services, which now oversees the daily operations of the hospital. View the presentation summarizing the background of the hospital district and creation of the Verdant Health Commission, presented during community meetings in 2011 and 2012. A presentation on the details of the Swedish Hospital affiliation, shared with the community in January 2010, is also available to view.
The five members of the Board of Commissioners are elected by the voters in the hospital district and govern the Verdant Health Commission.
Our Board of Commissioners meets monthly, and members of the public are welcome to attend these meetings.
The Board of Commissioners operate following the bylaws established.
